To mark National Arthritis Week 2019, our branches are organising a wealth of activities around the country, details of which are below. 

 

Cork

Monday 8 April (afternoon) and Tuesday 9 April (morning)
The Cork Branch of Arthritis Ireland will have an information stand at the rheumatology clinic at Cork University Hospital. They will provide information leaflets from Arthritis Ireland as well as giving information on local activities and supports which the branch provides in Cork.

The Cork branch of Arthritis Ireland will host a workplace information talk at the Cork County Council office in Skibbereen to raise awareness about Arthritis and Arthritis in the workplace. This event is not open to the public.

To highlight National Arthritis Week and encourage people living with arthritis and other related conditions to be more active and increase their range of motion, the Kerry branch of Arthritis Ireland is providing two free 90-minute exercises sessions on Sunday 14 April at the Tralee Sports Centre. Step 2 the Beat (see video below), seated Theraband strengthening, and Nordic and Activator walking exercise workshops.

The Young Arthritis Network will hold an information evening for adults under 50 living with arthritis on working well with arthritis. The evening will feature a talk on this topic by Paula Minchin, occupational therapist, followed by introductory circuit training class with Meadhbh O'Sullivan, physiotherapist.

Anybody impacted by lack of or loss of rheumatology services for adults and children across the south-east of Ireland? On Tuesday 9 April at 6pm, the Arthritis Ireland Kilkenny branch is holding a public meeting in Ossory Park Community Centre to hear the concerns of patients or family who use rheumatology services, with a view to engaging with HSE to look at actions and solutions to help serve the patient and family. There will be representatives from the South East Health Forum and the South East Patients Advocacy Group at the meeting. Call or text 087 149 1767 with the word "SPOONS" to say you'll be there. You can remain anonymous, but this will give us any idea of attendance.

Twenty-fifth anniversary celebrations

The Mayo branch celebrates 25 years in supporting people in Mayo on 12 April. The committee invite you to join them for a gala dinner and dance in the Park Hotel, Kiltimagh at 8pm. Tickets cost €30 and can be booked online here. There is also a Mass at 7pm in Bohola Church.
