Arthritis Ireland is delighted to announce the launch of a new two-part conversation video series, featuring Professor Geraldine McCarthy, Consultant Rheumatologist at Mater Hospital Dublin and Principal Clinical Psychologist Dr. Jennifer Wilson O’Raghallaigh at Beaumont Hospital Dublin. The conversation series tackles the many issues people face with a diagnosis and the range of supports that are available to them.

“It can be a shock when you are diagnosed with arthritis, but the chances are that you have been living with symptoms for some time" according to Professor Geraldine McCarthy. “Getting a diagnosis provides a degree of certainty and the day of the diagnosis is the day that you can move forward with your treatment", Mc Carthy said.

According to Dr. Wilson O’Raghallaigh, courses such as Arthritis Ireland’s Living Well with Arthritis programme, “give participants the opportunity to connect with others living with the condition, while providing them with the tools to help manage issues such as pain and fatigue, challenges with relationships and dealing with the healthcare system".

Gráinne O’Leary, chief executive of Arthritis Ireland says, “Being diagnosed with arthritis can be a very intimidating experience. Arthritis Ireland has a confidential helpline as well as an extensive range of online supports to provide you with the information that you need to manage your condition".
