Donations
Imagine what it is like to be in the prime of your life and diagnosed with a disease that means you can do less as time goes on?
Many people think that arthritis is an old person’s disease. Something, perhaps their grandparents just had to learn and live with. In fact, the average age of people newly diagnosed with arthritis is just 35 years old. At best, arthritis is debilitating. At worst, it’s a killer. Intense, severe pain and joint swelling leads to immobility, fatigue and depression. The social isolation that results can devastate lives.
There is no cure for arthritis, but there is plenty we can do. Your support will make a real difference to the lives of people living with arthritis.
How the money your donate will make a real difference:
€100 pays for over 50 people to receive the information they need to better understand and manage their disease - as a person with arthritis who is informed about their condition is more likely to lead a better quality of life*
€500 pays for our trained volunteers to provide vital, practical and emotional support to over 40 people affected by arthritis via our Arthritis Helpline, LoCall 1890 252846.
€1000 will dramatically improve the quality of life of 2 people living with arthritis by teaching them how to take back control of their disease by attending one of our award winning Self Management Programmes

Tax Benefits
You may not be aware, but if you made a donation of €250 or more to Arthritis Ireland, there is a very simple way for Arthritis Ireland to claim the tax back on this donation and make your contribution go even further.
How can you help?
Here’s how it works. If you are currently a PAYE employee, your donation can be increased without any further cost to you. As you may have already paid tax on the money donated to us, we can reclaim this tax from the revenue commissioners. Tax refunds are calculated at 42%, 21% or a combination of both depending on which rate is applicable. That means if you pay tax at the higher rate of 41%, a donation of €250 could be worth €431 to Arthritis Ireland.
Donations are cumulative throughout the tax year, so a standing order of €21+ a month will take you over the €250 threshold. At the end of the year we will send you a CHY2 form (or download it here) that we need to claim back the tax .
*Those who are self-assessed may not claim back the tax that they have paid on donations, so in order to pass on the benefit to Arthritis Ireland please remember to take this into account when deciding what donation to make.
So please pick up a pen and fill out the form which you can download here.
