Get Your Joints in Motion Walking Challenge
It’s Get your Joints in Motion time! Join the movement of hundreds of people walking to control and cure arthritis in the Phoenix Park on Saturday 5th of May 2012 at 11am. This is a fun and inspiring day designed specifically for people with arthritis to find their inner champion.
For those of you who have done it before, you’ll know that this walk is uniquely suited to people of all ages and abilities. You can choose to walk either 2.5km or 5km along a beautiful flat and scenic landscape in the park.
There is a registration fee of only €20 for an individual and €30 for family entry (parents and children).

Find an Arthritis Ireland Walking Group
- Commit to get Walking - Sign up for the walk and we will send you a contract for you to hang on your fridge to remind yourself of your commitment to you.
- Sign up a Walking Buddy - Everything is more fun when you do it with friends, so sign someone up to take part in the walk with you.
- Choose your Distance - We all have different abilities so you can choose to train and walk 2.5km or 5km.
- Plan for Success - When you sign up we will give you a physio approved walking programme and a pedometer to help you get ready for the challange.
- Fundraise - Collecting even a small amount can help us make a Big Difference to the quality of life for people living with arthritis.
- Have Fun - Join hundreds of people walking to control arthritis and we'll even give you a medal at the end!
How Walking Can Change your Life
Did you know that only 33% of adults with arthritis do enough exercise, meaning that 67% of people with arthritis are nearly doubling the risk of reduced mobility. Excercize is vital to keep your joints healthy and supple. For people with arthritis it is linked to: Reduced pain, improved function, mental health and a better quality of life!
Walking is a fantastic form of exercise. It's low impact, low cost and can be done anywhere. All you need is good walking shoes. By walking regularly you help to:

- Build your muscles
- Keep your weight down
- Boost general health by strengthening your heart
- Increasing lung function, reducing blood pressure and giving you more stamina
- Improve your mood, relieve tension and stress thus helping you sleep better
When you register you will receive your official Joints in Motion walking pack.

- Physiotherapist approved 4 week walking plan

After you have finished your walking challenge you will receive a finishers pack containing a walking challenge medal, a cert of appreciation and a goodie bag. Not to mention the opportunity to sit have a cup of tea and a chat with fellow walkers!
