The Kildare Branch of Arthritis Ireland has been in existence since 1986. 2008 Committee members(9) are all volunteers dedicated to improving the quality of life of the 1 in 6 Kildare people with arthritis or fibromyalgia.

They are people with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia who organise educational talks, workshops, support group meetings and give tips on managing the physical symptoms and emotional support to those living with this chronic condition. One member of committee is a nurse.

The Arthritis Self Management Programme runs in Spring and Autumn and enables participants to take back charge of their life in six weekly two and a half hourly sessions.

Outreach work includes educational talks to community groups and promotion of literature and exercise book and DVD at key locations.

We lobby through Kildare Network of People with Disabilities in Ireland and Newbridge Access Group [N.A.G.] on disability equality issues. Most of our talks and workshops take place in the meeting rooms at Church of the Irish Martyrs Ballycane, Naas which is very close to Naas Hospital.
